Emma, one year later

The Miedema family has stayed closely connected to RMHC Toronto
Emma Miedema, then and now
What a difference a year makes. Emma Miedema is crawling now and getting close to walking. “She changes every day, growing stronger and brighter,” says her proud mother, Lisa. “She has a very loving and beautiful spirit about her.”

Lisa and her family stayed at RMHC Toronto after Emma was born prematurely in May 2014 with a congenital brain disorder.

Since their stay, the family, which includes Lisa, her husband, Matthew, and Emma’s seven-year-old brother, Lucas, has continued to express their gratitude to the House in many ways. They rallied their extended family to participate in McHappy Day in May 2015 at their local McDonald’s restaurant and they shared their story at the Thunder Bay Charity Golf Tournament this summer, helping raise $65,000 for the House.

“RMHC Toronto will forever be a charity so close to our hearts.”
