Genworth Canada is a great supporter of RMHC Toronto through their annual golf tournament.
Working for Canada’s largest private mortgage insurer means Genworth Canada employees know a thing or two about what makes a home. Even they are impressed by the “home away from home” we create for families at Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Toronto.
“The House is such an amazing facility,” says Julie Avery, Account Manager GTA at Genworth. “We are always welcomed with open arms and I can only imagine families receive the same.”
We’ve been welcoming Genworth employees to the House since 2012 when they first designated RMHC Toronto as the benefactor of their annual golf tournament. Since then, the tournament has raised $50,000 for families with seriously ill children, including $7,500 at this year’s event on June 2.
“We’re so grateful for Genworth Canada’s continued support,” says Kristy Daley, Development Officer at RMHC Toronto. “It’s always such a treat to attend the tournament and feel the enthusiasm from Genworth employees.”
That enthusiasm comes from a place of empathy, says Julie. Many of her co-workers have young families of their own.
“I have a 17-month-old daughter, so when I’ve done Home for Dinners at the House, it hits very close to home,” she says. “It makes you realize that no one is bulletproof and these things can happen to anyone. How comforting to know RMHC Toronto is there if you need it.”
