Subaru Canada, Inc. provides our families with a vehicle to use while at the House
For out-of-town families staying at Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Toronto, the big city can be tough to navigate. Having access to a vehicle can be hugely helpful, and thanks to Subaru Canada, Inc., our House is grateful to have one available for families to use.
Marg and Dale Shaw, for example, are from Queensville, Ontario, a small village north of Toronto. They are staying at RMHC Toronto while their 17-year-old son, Nicholas, recovers from a serious motorcycle accident. He is being treated at St. Michael’s Hospital, so they are grateful to have a vehicle to use when they go visit him after dark.
“Subaru Canada is proud to be a partner of RMHC Toronto,” says Joe Felstein, Director of Marketing. “We recognize and appreciate the valuable services RMHC Toronto offers to families in need and we are pleased to support these efforts through our room sponsorship, House vehicle loan program and various fundraising initiatives over the past 16 years.”
In that time, Subaru and their employees have donated more than $600,000 to our “home away from home.” The Subaru family’s fundraising initiatives include two very successful annual events: the Ontario Subaru Dealer’s Golf Tournament and the Toronto Subaru Club’s HyperMeeting. This year’s HyperMeeting, held on Aug. 14, raised $18,500 for RMHC Toronto. Subaru Canada matched that amount dollar-for-dollar, resulting in a phenomenal $37,000 for families like the Shaw’s.
“We look forward to the continuation of our successful partnership for years to come,” says Joe.
It’s a commitment for which RMHC Toronto is extremely grateful.
