Sudbury area Foundation supports Ronald McDonald Family Room
Gilles McDonald with Corinne Gagne
For almost 20 years, Corinne Gagne, Coordinator of the Ronald McDonald Family Room at Health Sciences North, has been fundraising in order to give back to the Sudbury area. Her efforts have been in honour of Rick McDonald, her police officer husband who was killed in the line of duty in 1999, and Dan McDonald, his brother who passed away eight years later in a motor vehicle accident.

Now the Sudbury community is giving back to Corinne.

Gilles McDonald, older brother to Rick and Dan, recently visited the Family Room to drop off wish list items that will benefit families of sick children using the Room. It is the first of many donations to come, says Corinne.
The funds were raised by the Rick and Dan McDonald Memorial Foundation, an organization recently founded by Gilles and a volunteer Board of Directors to continue the legacy started by Corinne.

“The donation is so meaningful,” says Corinne, who took on the full-time role of Family Room Coordinator last year. “It’s like the years of giving are now coming full circle, to a support a charity I feel passionate about.”
