Celebrate mothers with a gift from the heart
Jacob Gelinas gets nervous around doctors and sometimes cries when he needs a blood test. That’s not surprising. The normally happy little boy from Capreol, Ontario has had more medical procedures in his three short years than most of us will face in our lifetime.
Jacob needs his mom by his side. And with your help, she always will be.
Born with hypoplastic right heart syndrome, Jacob has already had three open-heart surgeries.
“Nothing hurts more than knowing your sick child has to suffer,” says Tara Gelinas. “I’m so grateful for the House because it allowed our whole family to be here and support Jacob.”
Jacob’s big sister Alexie, dad, Jeremie, and even his grandma and grandpa have all been able to stay at the House. It has been their “home away from home” on and off over the last three years.
Being together as a family is the best gift that Tara could ask for. Being able to watch her children playing together. Sitting down to a meal as a family. Tucking her children into bed at night.
“Family is my greatest joy. We make memories at Ronald McDonald House that are treasured by all of us. The incredible support makes recovery as a family that much easier.”
Last year, 762 mothers just like Tara stayed at the House when their child became seriously ill. As you prepare to celebrate the mothers in your life, please consider making a donation to Ronald McDonald House Charities Toronto.
Your gift will support all the mothers who stay with us – especially on Mother’s Day. They will wake up to cards and gifts made in our Arts and Crafts program. They will be treated to a catered brunch. They’ll get a manicure in the afternoon. And most importantly, they will be together with their family.
Make a special Mother’s Day gift today.
